What Is an Appeal?

In general, an appeal is a request the losing party makes to take the case to a higher court for reassessment. The goal is to have the higher court review what happened during the initial trial and determine if there are grounds to challenge the ruling or get a new trial altogether.

Appealing isn't ideal, but it's an option if you're dissatisfied with the current ruling.

Reasons to File an Appeal

Inadmissible Evidence

The evidence presented during the trial violated or compromised your constitutional rights, against your due process, or the Texas Rules of Evidence.

Unconvincing Evidence

The evidence presented lacked the strength or reason to support the ruling against you, and you want it reassessed.

Court Errors

The judge made errors or mistakes during the proceedings that improperly influenced the trial's outcome.
